DVORÁK: Symphony No. 8 in G major, Op. 88

Launching the Philharmonic Society’s 2019-20 Family Series, this free event is designed for listeners of all levels! Whether you are new to classical music or a seasoned listener, deepen your understanding and appreciation of classical music as we explore the orchestra: its formation, history, and traditions through the scope of Dvořák’s 8th Symphony.

The orchestra has been around since the year 1600, but it has changed dramatically over the centuries. In this 75-minute program, host Nuvi Mehta will take our audience on an exploration of the modern orchestra as we know it, discussing topics such as: what is an orchestra; the musical families of the orchestra; and what gave rise to the modern symphony orchestra as we know it. The program will conclude with a rousing performance of Dvorak’s 8th Symphony by the Orange County Youth Symphony.

This is a FREE event. Tickets may be reserved through the Philharmonic Society at (949) 553-2422, or PhilharmonicSociety.org.
